System Restore Broken
I even did the repository reset, the volume shadow copy, and NOTHING. It works best when attempting to recover from a bad update, a faulty driver, or corrupted file. It seems like every time I do an update I have reconfigure a bunch of settings that used to never change in Win 7. To restore image backups, read this. check over here
If all goes well, it saves all your installed apps, settings and files etc. Safe Mode is also useful if for some reason System Restore is unable to restore your PC to the selected restore point. it worked!...old photos that had been deleted were back! I still have the driver problem but I now have a simple fix for the times when start-up goes awry. But if you, for some reason, find your System Restore not working in Windows 10 or Windows 8/7, and that (a) System Restore points are not being created, even automatically, (b) Ended up giving up and moving my desktop over to Linux.
