If this folder is corrupted, then you will face problems during Windows Update. I will let this puppy run for a few days and monitor the CPU usage and CPU temperatures. Check This Out

In my opinion this agent changes itself with older version at the registry records without your knowledge and permission as a trusted installer mode.
